TRIGAMS

Fu Xi was the creator of the eight groups of three lines. King Wen  was the inventor of the meaning of eight groups of three bars, he called eight groups of three lines are Bagua, and each of three lines is Yao . There are two kinds of yao are the yin Yao () and yang Yao (). The names and numbers of Bagua as follows : Qian   number one, Dui  number two, Li number three, Zhen number four, Xun number five, Kan number six, Gen    number seven, Kun    number eight.

The question asked is why Bagua get those eight numbers?  The answer is that those are the ordinal numbers showing the formation process of Bagua being with the time. Initially unknown of those numbers, just known about them after the outer trigrams are formed :

The numbering order of outer trigrams identifies the motion cycle of Bagua is eight. Based on this result to know about the numbering order of 8 inner trigrams :

The ordinal number of Bagua also illustrate its path is a curve that has a shape of digit eight. This path from North enters the central of Tai Chi, then goes out from the South. Causing by Tai Chi continuously generates yin-yang, there it has countless trigram classes  formed, so hence there have countless paths that go in and out like show below  :

Knowing that    and    are a pair of physical symbols is used to denote positive and negative. Therefore, they can be replaced by minus sign and plus sign. Using algebraic formula below :

By that way we identify Greater Yang, Greater Yin is the Yang symbols, and Lesser Yang, Lesser Yin is the Yin symbols :

Four trigrams as Qian, Zhen, Kan, Gen is the yang  trigrams and the  four trigrams as Kun, Xun, Li, Dui is the yin  trigrams :

A circle has 360 degrees. Each inner trigram occupies one-eighth of a circle, so each trigram stretches 45 degrees. The inner trigrams are localized, that is the reason why the eight trigrams unmovable.

Turns back to the sixty four outer trigrams, each trigram has 8 positions on the circle as shown. Eight positions correspond to the eight directions of the earth, with this being said up the nature characteristic of the outer trigrams are movable. A 360 degree circle, each of 64 external trigrams stretches 5.625 degrees, therefore, one hexagram corresponds with this.
